Makassar City, South Sulawesi, won an award from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) as one of the regions that excels with the highest national performance status.

In the results of the Evaluation of the 2022 Regional Government Implementation, Makassar City got a score of 3.348.

Apart from Makassar, the nine other city governments that also received the award were Semarang, Surabaya, Surakarta, Bogor, Denpasar, Serang, Tangerang, Medan, and Parepare.

Meanwhile, 10 district governments receiving awards were Banyuwangi, Sumedang, Badung, Karanganyar, Sidoarjo, Kulon Progo, Wonogiri, Hulu Sungai Selatan, Konawe, and Bojonegoro.

Then, the three award-winning provinces are Central Java, Special Region of Yogyakarta, and East Java.

The award was handed over directly by the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian at the XXVII Regional Autonomy Day (Otda) Commemoration Ceremony at the City Of Makassar Pavilion, South Sulawesi, Saturday.

Tito Karnavian congratulated and appreciated the local government for winning the award as the best governer.

"I thank the award recipients. Hopefully it will motivate our enthusiasm to continue to be able to carry out tasks according to the existing regional autonomy government system," Tito said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 29.

Meanwhile, for local governments that have not succeeded in receiving the award, Tito hopes that the commemoration of Regional Autonomy Day (Otda) can be used as a momentum for introspection and contemplation to work better and excel, and be able to be fiscally independent.

"Because the goal of regional autonomy is fiscal independence, which is marked by more PAD (regional revenue) than central transfer. Regions can finance themselves without having to depend on the central government," he said.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Makassar Moh Ramdhan Pomanto thanked all levels of the Makassar City Government for working hard in providing services to the community.

"This award is for Makassar and thanks to all ranks who have agreed to work harder in providing services to the community," concluded Ramdhan.
