JAKARTA - The Regional Police of West Sulawesi (Sulbar) deployed a Trauma Healing Team for victims of the earthquake that occurred in Mamuju, West Sulawesi (Sulbar).
The team led by Iptu Ganesha visited the refugee camp at the Manakarra Mamuju Stadium.
Head of the Public Relations Division of the Regional Police of West Sulawesi, Kombes Syamsu Ridwan, said the team was tasked with restoring the psychological condition of the residents, especially for children.
They will provide psychological assistance and bring back the joy of the children affected by the earthquake.
"Today, the trauma healing team visited the evacuation site at Manakarra Mamuju Stadium to restore the psychological condition of the people who were victims of the earthquake due to trauma," said Syamsu Ridwan as quoted by Antara, Monday, January 18.
The trauma-healing team members were seen talking, singing and playing with the children in the evacuation tent.
"The earthquake that hit Mamuju and Majene, left deep wounds, trauma, depression, feelings of depression and anxiety of course, especially for those who are still children. This is because they have not been able to fully control their emotions," explained Syamsu Ridwan.
According to Syamsu Ridwan, trauma healing is very much needed by the children who are victims of the earthquake.
"This action is carried out as an effort to save the children's future, so that they will be well organized and take place as expected," said Syamsu Ridwan.
He hopes that parents can become trauma healing counselors for their children by staying calm and taking time to play.
"This trauma healing is badly needed by the victims, especially for children so that their traumas can be lost and not carried away until they grow up later," he explained.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Trauma Healing Team for the Regional Police of West Sulawesi Iptu Ganesa said the activity was carried out to help the victims, as well as neutralize post-earthquake trauma, turning sadness into jokes and laughter.
"Through this action, we certainly hope that it will provide more benefits for the people of West Sulawesi, especially in Mamuju, as a maximum effort to restore the spirit and joy of the victims," said Ganesa.
