5 Schools In South Solok Closed Following 13 Teachers Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - A total of 5 schools in South Solok Regency, West Sumatra were closed for a week. This step was taken after 13 teachers at the school tested positive for COVID-19.

"Of the 984 teachers who have carried out the swab test, 13 were confirmed positive for COVID-19 or 1.34 percent and they are currently doing self-isolation at home because they have no symptoms," said Head of South Solok Health Office, Novirman, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 18th.

Until now, swab tests for teachers are still taking place at the closest health center to the domicile concerned. Teachers who test positive with symptoms will be isolated in hospital. While those who are positive without symptoms are obliged to quarantine themselves at home.

"For positive patients without symptoms and want to be isolated in the hospital, the local district government also provides the place," he explained.

South Solok Education, Youth and Sports Agency task force Novrizon said there were 5 schools closed in four sub-districts after teachers and students were confirmed positive for COVID-19.

"Initially, holidays for schools where teachers tested positive for COVID-19 were only three days and we proposed one week and this was approved by the leadership," he said.

The schools are located in Koto Parik Gadang Diateh, Pauah Duo, Sangir Junjuk and Sangir Batang Hari Districts.

There were 322 positive cases of COVID-19 in South Solok Regency, with details of recovering from conversion to twice as many as 263 people, in care or isolation 55 people and four people died.

The number of patients who were confirmed positive for COVID-19 who carried out self-isolation amounted to 51 people and 3 people in the local hospital. The total number of specimens examined in South Solok was 16,878 people with a positivity rate of 1.90 percent.
