The Difference Between The Statements Of Lawyers And Police About Rizieq Refusing To Be Examined In The UMMI Hospital Case

JAKARTA - Bareskrim Polri has scheduled the examination of Rizieq Shihab and his son-in-law, Hanif Alatas as suspects in the case of allegedly obstructing the work of the COVID-19 Task Force at UMMI Hospital, Bogor, on Friday, January 15.

Rizieq Shihab's attorney, Aziz Yanuar, said that his client had not been questioned. This is because Rizieq refused to provide information regarding the case allegedly obstructing the work of the COVID-19 Task Force at the UMMI Hospital, Bogor.

"Rizieq is not willing to be investigated," said Aziz, Saturday, January 16.

According to Rizieq's confession, the rejection was reasoned because he wanted to focus on other cases, namely the alleged violation of the health protocol (prokes) during the wedding ceremony of his daughter, Syarifah Najwa Shihab and the crowd of Megamendung, Bogor.

"Yes, because he was already a suspect in two other cases, right in the Megamendung crowd and the Petamburan crowd which made him the first suspect and caused him to be detained," said Aziz.

"And that's why he wants to focus on these two cases," continued Aziz.

Meanwhile, Hanif Alatas is still undergoing examination. He was asked for 48 questions for approximately 8 hours about a case that allegedly covered Rizieq Shihab's health while undergoing treatment at the UMMI Hospital.

"Yes, specifically, it is related to some of Habib Rizieq's health statements in which Habib Hanif saw Habib Rizieq Shihab's physical condition," said Aziz.

Aziz said, Hanif gave information that Rizieq was in good health because he saw with the naked eye. He denied that his client was thought to be spreading false news about Rizieq Shihab's condition. Because, Hanif saw the condition of his son-in-law in a healthy condition with the naked eye.

"In plain view, not medically. So what the police understood was that Hanif was telling something that was not in accordance with the medical. In fact, in the video, he was in good health. This means that physically we can all see his physical condition," he said.

Apart from the examination material, Aziz said that Hanif Alatas did not need to serve a period of detention. Investigators said that Hanif Alatas was always cooperative and would not run away.

"Yes, Allhamdulliah. His status as a suspect, Allah, on the policies of the investigator and also the police, stated that Hanif's habib was not detained. Yes, the reason is, he did not run away and then did not submit evidence, nor did he repeat his actions," continued Aziz.

This information is different from Bareskrim Polri. Director of Criminal Actions for Barekrim Polri Brig. Gen. Andi Rian emphasized that Rizieq Shihab underwent the same examination as his son-in-law, Hanif Alatas, as scheduled by investigators.

"No (refused). He came and was present in the examination room," said Andi.

In fact, Andi said that investigators raised several questions related to the case. However, it was not explained how many questions the investigators asked.

Andi only emphasized that the information regarding Rizieq's refusal and not being checked was incorrect.

"Yes (also questioned). So the person concerned is still being investigated," he said.

In this case Rizieq Shihab was accused of Article 14 paragraphs 1 and 2 of Law number 4 of 1984 concerning Disease Outbreaks, Article 216 of the Criminal Code, and Articles 14 and 15 of Law number 1 of 1946 concerning Criminal Law Regulations.
