Bad Luck Befalls Residents Of Medan, Killed By A Train

JAKARTA - A middle-aged man was killed by a train on the railroad track (KA) Jalan Arif Rahman Hakim, Tegal Sari Mandala I Village, Medan City, North Sumatra Province.

"The victim who died was Muhammad Al Amin Lubis (50), a resident of Jalan Pukat Banting IV, Bantan Village, Medan Tembung District," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Medan Area Police, Iptu Riyanto, in Medan, as reported by Antara, Sunday, January 17.

He mentioned that the collision event on Saturday, January 16, was at around 19.10 WIB. The Medan Area Police picket officer received a report from the Head of the Environment, Tegal Sari Mandala I, that on Jalan Arif Rahman Hakim (At the Cross Door of JPL No 08 Aksara) a man was hit by a train bound for Medan-Tanjungbalai.

The officer has contacted the Medan Police Inafis Team to carry out a Crime Scene (TKP).

"After that the officer went to the victim's family, and took Muhammad to the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Pringadi Medan," he said.

Riyanto explained, from the testimony of Witness Azis Maulana Nugroho (20), the train gatekeeper. Previously the victim stood beside the railroad latch, and not long after that the latch closed because the train heading to Medan-Tanjungbalai crossed.

Then the victim walked to the middle of the railroad tracks, and stood upright towards the head of the train locomotive.

"The residents who saw the incident shouted at the victim, but they were ignored. Finally, the victim was hit by a train and dragged 200 meters away," he said.
