Just Inaugurated By Jokowi, The Makassar-Parepare Cross Train Turns Out To Be Equipped By The Directorate General Of Trains At The Ministry Of Transportation

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that the construction of the Makassar-Parepare railway which was just inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on March 29 turned out to be one of the projects played by officials of the Directorate General of Train at the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

"As I read earlier, I explained that there is a connection that was then developed until Java, Jakarta, Depok, and so on," said KPK Deputy Chair Johanis Tanak to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, April 13.

In addition, there are three other projects that are tricked by the suspects. First, the construction of the Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso double train line.

Second, four railway construction projects and two supervision projects in Lampenan, Cianjur, West Java. "Lastly, the project to repair the Java-Sumatra level crossing," said Johanis.

Johanis said the suspects were suspected of playing this project from the administrative process to determining the winner of the tender. They are also believed to have made a cash receipt agreement of five to ten percent of the project value.

The amount of money received from each project starts from Rp800 million, Rp150 million, Rp1.6 billion, and Rp1.1 billion which was later discovered for holiday allowances (THR). Not only that, the recipient suspects who came from officials at the Directorate General of Train are suspected of having received dozens of billions from other parties.

"The receipt of money suspected of being bribery by the parties in the activities of the rail road procurement and maintenance project is alleged to have so far reached more than Rp. 14.5 billion and then of course the KPK will continue to develop and further explore the investigation process," Johanis explained.

As a result of their actions, the suspects were detained in different detention centers for the first 20 days. The following is the full list of suspects:
