South Sulawesi Governor Prepares Support Hospital In Makassar For West Sulawesi Earthquake Victims

MAJENE - The Governor of South Sulawesi (Sulsel), Prof. Nurdin Abdullah, provided a buffer hospital in Makassar for victims of the Majene and Mamuju earthquakes, West Sulawesi (Sulbar).

"I ask us to come here (Sulbar) immediately. We have coordination, including hercules. So all those affected by the earthquake with serious health problems and so on, we evacuate to Makassar. We will become a buffer for all health care," said Nurdin Abdullah, in Majene, Friday, January 15.

Nurdin said that after receiving information on the earthquake conditions in West Sulawesi, he immediately coordinated with a number of existing stakeholders.

"I immediately coordinated with everyone, called the Pangdam and Lantamal, Kapolda, PLN, Telkomsel, I called all, just take steps there (Sulbar)," he said.

He has also prepared all the necessities needed for earthquake victims. Including providing hospital support facilities for injured victims.

"Earlier I also asked for a ship from Danlantamal because access was cut off, so I send all logistics here by sea. Anyway, I heard from the Governor (Sulbar) what we should support so that there is a sense of security for our people," said Nurdin.

Meanwhile, from BNPB data at 14.00 WIB, 34 people were declared dead due to an earthquake of magnitude 6.2.

"Details of 26 people died in Mamuju Regency and 8 people in Majane Regency," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Raditya Jati in his statement, Friday, January 15.

In addition, a number of evacuation posts have now been established in Mamuju and Majene areas. There are 10 refugee posts in Majene Regency. Meanwhile, for Mamuju District there are 5 evacuation posts.
