JAKARTA - The participation of the Israel National Team in the U-20 World Cup in Indonesia which will be held for some time, invites controversy in the community. However, on the other hand, the Palestinian Government has no problem with the Israeli national team's participation.

Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Zuhair Al-Shun stated that his party was not in a position to support or reject Israel's participation in the football tournament. Palestine also understands Indonesia's position as the host who must follow the rules of the International Football Federation (FIFA) in holding tournaments.

As the host, said Zuhair, Indonesia must facilitate every team participating and ensure that everything goes well for the success of the international tournament.

"The participation of each country in this event has nothing to do with liking or dislikeing a country, because each country participates as part of the competition that runs according to applicable regulations," said Zuhair.

In this case, the Palestinian Government appreciates Indonesia's authority as the host of the U-20 World Cup and does not want to interfere with Indonesia's decision. Palestine hopes that this tournament can be successful and will not cause problems in the future.

He further believes that Indonesia's support for developing issues in Palestine will never change. Indonesia is always consistent and steadfast in supporting Palestinian issues both in various regional, bilateral, and multilateral forums.

"What I have said is one that wants to erase doubts among many parties. From what I have seen, heard, felt, and met from various official officials in Indonesia, Indonesia's support for the Palestinian issue will never change," said Zuhair.
