JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Johanis Tanak assessed that a little or a lot of illegal money was received, still sins. He regretted the statement by Member of Commission IX DPR RI Melchias Markus Mekeng. "A little illicit money, yes, the name is also haram and sin," Johanis told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kunungan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, March 28. Johanis also stated that the Golkar Party politician was also considered contrary to anti-corruption education. Officials like Mekeng should be role models instead of permissive practices of corruption. "Supposedly state officials should not waste words that are so easy," he said. "So a little or a lot is not feasible," continued Johanis. Similarly, the Director of Investigation of the KPK, Asep Guntur, assessed that Mekeng's statement was inappropriate. He even supposes corruption is like chicken droppings. "Those who are a little forbidden can still be allowed or not the same as chicken droppings. Want a lot, want a little but still ( chicken impurity, ed)," he said. Previously, Mekeng during a Working Meeting with the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) stated that there was no problem if an official received small amounts of illegal money. This was conveyed at the Parliament Complex, Senayan on Monday, March 27. At that time, Mekeng was discussing the alleged natural property ownership of former Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance, Rafael Alun Trisambodo. "Most of them eat illegal money. If they eat small and small, nothing. It eats illegal money until it is so excessive, God is angry," said the politician at the meeting. "That's the standard in the value of life.
