JAKARTA - CEO of the WWF Indonesia Foundation Aditya Bayunanda said Earth Hour activities reminded all parties, including the younger generation, about the importance of playing an active role in natural conservation.

"It takes millions of people including young people to be able to actively participate in preserving Indonesian nature," Aditya Bayunanda said in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Saturday, March 25.

He added that Earth Hour's activities call on individuals, communities and business sectors around the world to turn off lights and other unused electronics.

He added that in 2023 the Indonesian WWF Foundation in collaboration with the Surakarta City Government will concentrate the Earth Hour event in Solo City with the theme Solo Resik, Plastic Waste Management.

"Earth Hour this year is centered in Solo City as the most populous city in Central Java and the implication is that there is a lot of plastic waste, through this moment we also invite local people to wisely use plastic and manage used plastic," he said.

Head of the Surakarta City Environment Agency Kristiana Hariyanti said that her party appreciated Earth Hour activities in her area.

"Thank you to WWF Indonesia for focusing Earth Hour activities in Solo this year, hopefully with the activity of turning off lights and other unused electronic devices can save energy and make the earth more sustainable," he said.

Earth Hour is a global activity fronted by WWF on the last Saturday of March every year. The activity was carried out in the form of a one-hour blackout as an effort to raise awareness of the need for serious steps to deal with climate change.

Earth Hour's main identity 2023 is an interesting set of digital content, and a new clock-focused flip clock logo as a reminder that time is running.
