JAKARTA - YouTube blocked views of President Donald Trump's channel for a minimum of the next week and potentially longer, after giving a warning for violating its usage policy.
Launching CNN Wednesday January 13, YouTube refused to explain the details of the video that earned Trump a reprimand. However, YouTube ensures that it will conduct another review after one week, whether the suspension will be extended or not.
"After careful review and bearing in mind concerns about the potential for ongoing violence, we removed new content uploaded to Donald J. Trump's channel. We also issued a reprimand, for violating our policy of inciting violence," a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement.
"As a result, according to our old strike system, the channel is now prohibited from uploading new videos or live streaming for a minimum of seven days, which can be extended," the statement continued.
Apart from that, YouTube has also said it will take extra steps to disable comments under Donald Trump's channel.
In YouTube's proprietary policy, the first strike will create a block for a week. The second strike will create a block for two weeks, and if you get the third strike will cause a permanent block.
