Discotheque In Jakarta Must Close During Ramadan, Except For Its Location In 4 Star Hotels

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government requires nightclubs such as nightclubs or discotheques to close operations during Ramadan 1444 H to Eid Al-Fitr.

In addition, entertainment venues that are predicted to operate during Ramadan to Lebaran are steam baths (spa); massage houses; manual, mechanical and/or electronic scarcity playgrounds for adults; as well as bars/restaurants that are integrated with prohibited entertainment venues must also be closed.

This is stated in the Circular of the Head of the DKI Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) Number e-0009/SE/2023 concerning the Implementation of Tourism Businesses in the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1444 H/2023 M issued on March 21, 2023.

"A certain type of tourism business that stands alone must be closed on 1 day before the holy month of Ramadan until 1 day after the second day of Eid al-Fitr," said Head of DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Andhika Permata in SE, quoted on Friday, March 24.

However, the DKI Provincial Government excludes the obligation to close operations during Ramadan at discotheques located in four-star hotels and above, and is far from residential areas to places of worship.

"Especially for nightclubs and discotheque businesses that are held to be integrated with the hotel area of at least 4 stars and commercial areas and not close to residential areas, houses of worship, schools and/or hospitals except from the provisions (obliged to close during Ramadan to Eid)," said Andhika.

Meanwhile, other tourism businesses such as karaoke, billiards, and self-standing drinking houses can still operate with several adjustments. In the SE, the operational time for the tourism business is set at a maximum of 24.00 WIB.
