TANGERANG is important for the younger generation to have a concern for protected animals so that they can preserve endangered animals. Therefore, in order to grow the nature of caring for animals, the Kehati Foundation together with the Sumatran Lestari Orangutan Foundation, the Orangutan Information Center (OIC) held a Roadshow Caring for Tapanuli 2023 orangutans to several universities.
One of the campuses visited is North Sumatra University and IPB to 3rd Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) based in communication and information technology, and entrepreneurship.
"We are very happy to be working with Multimedia University of the Archipelago on this campaign to care about Tapanuli orangutans," said Executive Director of the Riki Frindos Kehati Foundation in a statement, Wednesday, March 22.
Riki assessed that for the younger generation, for him, it is important to care about animals in Indonesia from various science and majoring routes.
"The knowledge and willingness to be involved in animal conservation in Indonesia must be owned by all young people from cross-science and major sharing," he said.
"Of course UMN students can do a lot through digital campaigns and sustainable entrepreneurship programs," he said.
Ditambahkan, Deputy Head of Communication Science Department Irwan Fakhruddin. Ia mengatakan bahwa kegiatan yang didukung The Body Shop Indonesia itu memberikan pengalaman tersendiri bagi mahasiswa UMN.
So that in the future students are expected to be actively involved in the campaign to preserve Tapanuli orangutans and other animals in Indonesia.
"The real challenge is how to ground a message related to conservation, especially to the target audience of Gen Z. This message must be packaged in a simple, grounded language, relate to Gen Z and provide an "experiental" sensation that will make them take part in the campaign themselves," he explained.
Furthermore, Irwan said that Science Communications is a competence that must be possessed and a framework in communicating scientific messages. One of them is in the Tapanuli orangutan conservation program.
"This roadshow activity is very useful for UMN students and is the first step in taking a role as a problem solver that can have an impact on good," he said.
