JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono replaced the seat of Mayor (Walkot) of West Jakarta (Jakbar) occupied by Yani Wahyu Purwoko with Uus Kuswanto. Today, Uus underwent a fit and proper test as a candidate for Mayor of West Jakarta.

In Law Number 29 of 2007 concerning the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, it is mandated that the mayor or regent can be appointed by the Governor through considerations from the DKI DPRD.

"I am here to carry out an invitation from the DPRD to fulfill one of the requirements to become mayor," said Uus at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Monday, March 20.

As a result, the DKI DPRD approved Uus to be appointed Mayor of West Jakarta. "Alhamdulillah, we have followed it earlier and from the leadership and also the members present have given consideration for agreeing on what is the proposal from the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta," he continued.

In the fit and proper test that Uus underwent, he was briefed by the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD to fix problems that often occur in West Jakarta, ranging from asset inventory, flooding, to stunting management.

"In principle, what is the direction of the Governor to fix the problem of flooding, continue congestion, including stunting, was also conveyed by the leadership of the council and also members representing West Jakarta to support what is in the Governor's program can be successfully implemented," explained Uus.

Uus was proposed by Heru to become Mayor of West Jakarta on March 16. After this fit and proper test, Uus admitted that he did not know when he would be officially appointed to lead West Jakarta.

Uus himself served as Mayor of West Jakarta from September 2020 to October 2021. His position was replaced by Yani Wahyu Purwoko by former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

After that, Uus was appointed Assistant to the People's Welfare of the DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary in 2021 until now. He was also appointed as Acting Regional Secretary in 2022, before his position was filled by Joko Agus Setyono as the definitive Regional Secretary.
