Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked politicians and political volunteers not to campaign in places of worship, especially mosques, during the month of Ramadan. "To the leaders of political parties and their volunteers, so they are not eager to make the mosque a place of campaign," said Ma'ruf Amin after attending the 2023 Asri Nusantara Village Day commemoration in Makmur Village, Pangkalan Kerinci, Pelalawan, Riau, Antara, Monday, March 20. Ma'ruf said that the procedures for implementing elections, including the pre-election period, already have clear rules, namely places of worship, places of education, educational institutions, and government offices should not be used as places of political campaign. "Let the mosque pray, for worship, for social activities to be sterilized from the campaign," he said. He also asked the administrators of places of worship, especially mosques, to ensure that there were no campaign activities in their places of worship. "It is not certain that in one mosque the political aspirations are the same, so there can be divisions," said the Vice President. Present to accompany the Vice President in a press statement were the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration (Mendes PDTT) Abdul Halim Iskandar, Riau Governor Syamsuar, and Pelalawan Regent H. Zukri.
