3 Children Bitten By Rabies Dogs In Dompu NTB, Police Will Prevent Widespread

JAKARTA - Three children became victims of the ferocity of a dog suspected of contracting rabies in Saneo Village, Woja District, Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"The victim suffered bite wounds to the buttocks, legs and face," said Woja Police Chief, Dompu Police, Ipda Zainal in a written statement, Sunday, March 19, which was confiscated by Antara.

Zainal said the victims had the initials E (7), F (5) and H (13). Animals suspected of contracting the mad dog disease are currently being chased by the authorities.

"A similar incident has occurred several times in Saneo Village. It is possible that if it is not destroyed, there will be more victims and spread to other residents' dogs," said the police chief.

The incident began when the victim named A was playing in front of her house, suddenly from behind a dog came and immediately bit the victim.

Fortunately, the victim's parents, who were not far from the crime scene, saw this and immediately threw stones at the dog. However, the dog ran away and instead bit the victim's other right leg thigh, H alias Dono.

"Dono was standing on the side of the road in front of his house," said the police chief.

It did not stop there, residents who witnessed the incident around the crime scene immediately pursued the dog. However, what happened was that this fierce dog returned to attack F, who had just finished defecating on the riverbank.

"Fahri was bitten by the dog on the face," he said.

For this incident, he said, the three victims were taken to the West Dompu Health Center for medical treatment.

"The three victims who were bitten by the dog have been given the Anti Rabies Vaccine (VAR) by the medical team of the West Dompu Health Center," said the police chief.

Based on data from the West Dompu Health Center, since early March 2023 the number of cases of rabies dog bites in Woja District has reached 11 cases.

"In 2022 there are 25 cases of rabies dog bites," said the police chief.
