Mayor Of Surabaya Asks For Iron Thief Cover Of Waterway Arrested

JAKARTA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi asked the perpetrators of iron theft covering the waterways, which is now starting to occur in the City of Heroes, East Java, to be arrested.

"Starting now, if someone steals, let's get arrested together," said Cak Eri, Eri, who was ordered by Eri Cahyadi, quoted from Antara, Sunday.

One of the theft of iron covering the water channel occurred on Jalan Ngagel Jaya Utara, Surabaya City in the early hours of Saturday (18/3) or around 03.53 WIB.

Seeing the action, Cak Eri did not remain silent, and reported the incident to the police.

He emphasized that no one should interfere with the construction of the city of Surabaya. If there is a similar incident, he appealed to all residents of the City of Heroes not to hesitate to arrest the perpetrators.

"If you are building a city, don't investigate it because the development has a big impact on the people of Surabaya, to reduce flooding," he said.

Therefore, Cak Eri asked law enforcers in the city of Surabaya to arrest the perpetrators so that they would be immediately arrested and prosecuted.

The incident on Saturday morning was caught on CCTV cameras. In the action, there were three men who were clearly seen lifting the iron covering the channel and then being lifted into the garbage cart.

"We also entered the theft last night and reported it, so his face was caught on CCTV," said Cak Eri.

For this reason, Cak Eri appealed to Surabaya residents to protect this city. He also asked residents not to hesitate to report any similar actions in their environment.

The report must be proven by recording in the form of a photo or video and then sent to the Surabaya City Government (Pemkot) complaint number at telephone number 0811-311-5777.

"It can also be reported to my residents or the complaint phone number. Residents of Suroboyo, let's join Suroboyo together (Surabaya residents, let's take care of Surabaya together), besides that we also hold patrols," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Surabaya City Water Resources and Highways Agency (DSDABM) Lilik Arijanto added that his party had taken anticipatory steps so that similar incidents would not happen again.

Lilik said that the efforts made started from adjusting heavy iron so that it is not easy to transport.

"Regarding this case, I have also coordinated with the Surabaya City Satpol PP. Even our rayon team if they find something similar, they will immediately report it to the police," said Lilik.

Lilik hopes that Surabaya residents will not hesitate to report similar incidents in their environment.

"In addition, we are also coordinating with friends at the Sector Police to follow up on the incident," he said.
