The fisherman named Kasim was found dead. His body is on the seabed, said the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Rote Ndao Regency, Diksel Haning.

"A fisherman named Kasim (39) was found on the seabed and when he was evacuated he was already dead," said Diksel, as reported by Antara, Saturday, March 18.

The fisherman from Alor Regency was reported missing while looking for fish with seven of his friends in the waters of Nuse Island, Rote Ndao Regency, Friday night. The victim's colleagues searched all night, but until Saturday morning the effort had not yielded results.

They then reported to the SAR officers. The SAR team which includes Kupang Search and Rescue Office officers, Rote Ndao SAR Alert Unit, Rote Ndao BPBD, Rote Ndao Naval Base, and village government officials then conducted a search with the help of fellow victims on Saturday morning.

Diksel said that the victim's body was found by a colleague who dived to the seabed at the scene.

"The victim was found at around 11.00 WITA in a dead condition," he said.

He added that the victim's body was immediately brought back by the family in their hometown in Alor Regency by boat.
