East Nusa Tenggara Deputy Governor Josef Nae Soi appreciated the residents who had given up land for the construction of an alternative road line along the 580 meters which was opened due to landslides in Takari, Kupang Regency.
"Thank you to the community and religious leaders who have jointly given up the land to become this alternative road," Josef said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 17.
He said the opening of the alternative route was encouraging because it made traffic access on Timor Island smooth again.
The opening of the route, he said, could not be separated from the role of the NTT National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) which has worked hard since the landslide incident.
"High appreciation to BPJN NTT for deftly, less than one month of completing this alternative route," he said.
Nae Soi said the alternative routes that were opened could be passed, especially large trucks, which included transporting logistics so that the economy of residents on the island of Timor could move smoothly.
"So at this time we are using alternative roads first while road hall friends complete the main route," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of BPJN NTT Agustinus Junianto expressed his gratitude for the support from the provincial and district governments, the local community so that the alternative route work went smoothly and began to be used.
Alternative routes began to be carried out two days after the landslide on Friday (17/2) and the community, government, and TNI-Polri were very helpful in smoothing the flow of traffic on this emergency route.
"People can already use this alternative route. We will close the main route at kilometer 72.3 to clean up landslides," he said.
He added that the main line work is targeted to be completed in June 2023 so that vehicles can be safely and smoothly crossed as before.
