Tangerang Police Arrest 3 Illegal Miners In Sukamulya

TANGERANG - Police have arrested three people suspected of carrying out illegal mining that occurred in two locations on Jalan Kampung Bunar, Sukamulya, and Kresek, Tangerang Regency. The 3 people had the initials O, A and M.

Tangerang City Police Chief, Kombes Sigit Dany said the three people had their respective roles. For O, he acts as a person who accommodates, utilizes and processes mineral and coal. Then, A and M act as people who carry out mining activities.

"The three of them are people who are in illegal mining, they do not have a permit to carry out excavations. Until finally we arrested the three of them and subject to articles 158 and 161 concerning mineral and coal with a sentence of 5 years in prison," said Sigit in his statement, Friday, March 17.

Sigit explained that the incident began with complaints from people in the Sukamulya area. At first they complained about the slippery and dusty roads, due to a landslide from the activity of trucks crossing the road.

"We also carried out an investigation and found that the ground truck was heading to housing in the Sukamulya area," he said.

On that basis, his party conducted an examination and found information from the housing sector, if they obtained dredging land in the Kresek area, Tangerang Regency.

"We found mining activities in this case illegal soil excavations in Kresek District, Tangerang Regency. Then, we also examined people in mining, and finally determined three perpetrators," he said.

Meanwhile, the Acting Head of Mineral and Coal Division of the Banten Province Energy and Mineral Resources Office, Budi Kurniawan in the Tangerang Regency area, was not intended as a mining location.

In that incident, the police also secured 7 dump trucks, and one bulldozer.

"Based on the spatial planning, Tangerang Regency is not intended as a mining location, and with this case, of course, we will continue to coordinate well with the community, police, and Satpol pp to take action," he said.
