After Polda, Sumedang Regency Government Will Evaluate Settlement Land Permits In Prone Areas

JAKARTA - The Sumedang Regency Government (Pemkab), West Java (Jabar), will evaluate the permit for residential land in disaster-prone areas.

This was done following a landslide that occurred in Cimanggung District, Sumedang Regency, West Java, last Saturday, January 9.

Sumedang Deputy Regent Erwan Setiawan said residents on sloping land were prone to disasters. In addition to evaluating, his party is also making an inventory of the number of settlements in these vulnerable locations.

Erwan Setiawan added that the Sumedang Regency Government had never issued a permit for residential land in disaster-prone areas this period. So that there is less technical knowledge related to the licensing.

"We have not issued a permit during our leadership, in the past it was allowed, now it is not allowed," said Erwan at the landslide site, reported by Antara, Monday, January 11.

"Even the permits that have been issued will be evaluated, please don't build in a dangerous area like this," added Erwan.

Meanwhile, Head of West Java Regional Police Public Relations Kombes Erdi A. Chaniago said that his party would investigate the construction permit at the landslide location.

"The point is we are investigating, the Sumedang Police are currently studying the permits for the housing," said Erdi.

He could not confirm that there was a violation of the settlement permit. But he said the investigation was carried out in order to prevent a similar incident.

"We all know that there have been victims, so we are preventing it from happening again. Well, we are investigating this first," said Erdi.
