JAKARTA - North Korea (North Korea) decided to take important and practical steps to use offensive war prevention measures, state media said on Sunday.

According to North Korea's Central News Agency (KCNA), the decision was announced when the United States (US) and South Korea (South Korea) soon held a joint military exercise this week, at a major meeting of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) led by Kim Jong-un.

Washington and Seoul are scheduled to start a Freedom Shield (FS) military exercise on Monday and last for 11 days, along with a large-scale field maneuver called Warrior Shield.

"The meeting discussed and adopted practical and important steps to implement a more effective, powerful and offensive war prevention strategy from the country in overcoming the current situation," KCNA said, referring to the "US and South Korean war provocation" which it said had reached unacceptable limits., as reported by Antara.

They did not specify what practical steps would be taken.

North Korea is expected to conduct a weapons test in conjunction with a joint military exercise between South Korea and the US, which Pyongyang has long criticized in the precursor to launch an invasion.

Kimkan last week inspected "firing attack exercises" and simulations of his war force attacks on enemy airfields, in an effort to check the readiness of his armed forces' "real war".

Kim Yo-jong's younger sister previously warned that her country was ready to take "extraordinary" steps against military activities carried out by the US and South Korea.

At the military meeting North Korea also discussed a number of issues in how to solve rural problems, KCNA said.

They discussed tasks of accelerating rural development, regional development and the nation's major development, as well as "steps in making it happen and ways to use military force."

Some observers say North Korea appears to be discussing a number of ways to deploy the Korean People's Army in assisting housing development in rural areas and other projects aimed at improving people's lives.
