East Java Regional Police Sent A Team To Kediri To Collect DNA From The Family Of SJ-182 Sriwijaya Air Victims

SURABAYA - The East Java Police Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team helped identify victims of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 crash in the waters of the Thousand Islands on Saturday, January 9. Mainly the victims who came from East Java, including a mother and her two children who were still children from Pare, Kediri Regency.

"To ensure that the victim is his family, we today deploy a team to collect DNA from the victim's family in Kediri," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Kombes Gatot Repli Handoko, in Surabaya, Monday, January 11.

The three victims from Kediri, namely Rahmania Ekananda (40), Fazilla Amara (6), and Fathima Ashalina (5), included one person named Dinda Amelia as a baby sister. According to Gatot, the victim of a family was known to be about to fly to Pontianak from Jakarta, with the aim of meeting her husband and having a vacation at the same time.

"They are all suspected including victims of Sriwijaya Air, so we will take DNA tests from the family," he said.

In the meantime, there have been four people from East Java who have also become victims of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 tragedy. Apart from the three people from Kediri, there was also a man named Fadly Satrianto, the co-pilot of Nam Air from Surabaya.

"The DNA samples from Fadly's family were taken at the Bhayangkara Hospital in Surabaya last Sunday. We are only backing up the post-ante mortem collection of the Police DVI TEAM in Jakarta," he said.

Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 aircraft took off from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, at 14:36 WIB, Saturday, January 9. One minute later the plane to Pontianak was at an altitude of 1,700 feet and was allowed to rise to an altitude of 29 thousand feet by following instrument standards.

The Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 aircraft had its departure delayed for 30 minutes. The reason was the heavy rain.
