Almost Crashing, The Harapan Jaya Bus Fell Into Ricefield In Kediri

JAKARTA - Police officers from the Purwoasri Sector, Kediri Regency, East Java, are handling the incident where the PO Harapan Jaya bus fell into a rice field after nearly colliding with another bus on the main road in Mekikis Village, Purwoasri District, Kediri Regency.

Purwoasri Police Chief AKP Irfan Widodo said the incident started when the Harapan Jaya bus with police number AG 7433 US, travelling from Surabaya - Kediri wanted to hide the vehicle in front of it.

"However, around the corner from the south came the Bagong bus. Allegedly shocked, the driver swerved to the left and fell into a rice field", he said in Kediri, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, March 11.

He added that the Harapan Jaya bus driver, Yudi Handoko (35) from Trenggalek, did not expect a bus in front of him. What's more, when the steering wheel swerved, the bus then hit a motorcycle which was parked on the side of the road.

"When swerving to the left, the Harapan Jaya bus hit a Supra and Yamaha Mio motorcycle parked on the side of the road", he said.

The passengers are also immediately hysterical with this incident. Shortly after the incident, they immediately left the bus. They were still shocked by what had just happened.

The crew including the bus driver and several passengers survived the incident. However, there was one bus passenger who had to be rushed to the Kertosono Hospital, because he was experiencing back pain. The victim was named Sofiah, a resident of Gunung Sari Ilir Village, Central Balikpapan District, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province.

"The victim, Sofiah, experienced back pain. Currently, the victim is being treated at the Kertosono Hospital", he said.

The incident where the bus got stuck also caused traffic from the direction of Surabaya to Kediri to congest.

The video of the incident was also circulated directly from WhatsApp social media. Several passengers were on the side of the road after the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a rice field.

Meanwhile, the police who went to the location also helped evacuate the passengers. The bus was also evacuated from the fields by a crane.

Until now, the process of bus theft from the fields is still ongoing. The surviving passengers were diverted to use another bus to continue their journey to Kediri, Tulungagung and Trenggalek.

Even now, the traffic flow is still congested with the demolition process. Meanwhile, parked motorbikes were also damaged. Vehicles were also evacuated.
