NasDem To Andi Arief: We Are A Coalition To Increase Democrats What Won The Fight?

Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the NasDem Party Ahmad Ali is surprised by the attitude of the Democratic Party which continues to force its General Chair, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono alias AHY to run as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Anies Baswedan.

This was said by Ali in response to the statement by the Chairman of the Bappilu Democratic Party, Andi Arief, who said AHY was more promising to accompany Anies in the 2024 presidential election than other figures. Ali questioned the reason Andi Arief said so. According to him, NasDem and Democrats and PKS are in a coalition to win Anies instead of raising the party bearing the Mercy Star symbol.

"We are working on advancing Anies to enlarge the Democratic Party or win the fight?" Ahmad Ali told reporters, Friday, March 10.

"If we want to win the fight for Indonesia, of course we must have the greatness of our hearts to jointly discuss this in detail," he continued. Ali then asked the Democrats to stop concluding AHY, who is the best candidate for Vice President Anies. Meanwhile, other figures who also have the potential to be unsuitable to accompany the former governor of DKI Jakarta.

"Take care of the interests of the group. AHY is good, but it's not allowed to justify that the others are rotten," said Ali.

Previously, the Chairman of the Bappilu Democrat Party Andi Arief considered the AHY pair to be more promising than Anies and Khofifah. Because according to him, the coverage of the 2024 presidential election is national, not just a regional or geographical basis.

"So it is not the presidential election that is separated between the East Java election and the elections throughout Indonesia, so it is a mistake to think," Andi Arief told reporters, Thursday, March 10. Andi assessed that Khofifah's electability was still far behind AHY. Therefore, according to him, the Anies-AHY pair was more promising than other figures.
