JAKARTA - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) reminds the public not to be divided in dealing with armed criminal groups (KKB) in Papua.

"In dealing with the BNPT terrorist separatist group, it is important to ensure that the community is not divided and must agree if the Papuan KKB is a common enemy," said Head of BNPT Komjen Pol Boy Rafli Amar in Jakarta, Friday, March 10, as reported by Antara.

According to the three-star general, the public must be given views on the national, legal, motive and security disturbances carried out by the KKB so that they are designated as terrorist separatist groups.

"So that the community is not divided and agrees that the Papuan KKB is a common enemy," he said.

The former Papuan and Banten Police Chief reminded that it has become a joint task, especially BNPT, to ensure that the public is aware of the ideology of violence that leads to terrorism.

"Our job is to ensure that the public is aware of this ideology, and this is also an effort to provide protection to citizens," said the 1988 Police Academy (Akpol) graduate.

In line with that, the Deputy for Prevention, Protection and Deradicalization of BNPT Major General (Mayjen) of the TNI, Nissan Setiadi, said that he would strengthen public awareness in the Land of Papua.

"We will hold a Warung NKRI and a priority national dialogue program through the Papuan Counterterrorism Prevention Coordination Forum (FKPT)," he said.
