JAKARTA The fire engine was blocked when it wanted to extinguish the fire on Jalan Pisangan Baru Tengah 1, Matraman, East Jakarta, angered firefighters. This is because residents who parked their cars on the road made fire engines unable to pass. Meanwhile, in an emergency, the speed of time is urgently needed.

Head of East Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. Gatot Sulaeman said that one of the residents came to his office to ask for compensation for car damage due to being hit by a fire engine.

"Yesterday there were also residents who came here, the car hit us a little bit. He asked for compensation, but we can't just replace it, because he parked the vehicle not in its place (barbarangan-ed). Even though it was blocked by parking vehicles on the streets, we finally got in slowly," said Gatot when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, March 7.

Gatot appealed to residents of car owners to put their vehicles in their proper place.

"Residents are advised not to park carelessly so that firefighters can quickly provide assistance. Parking should be at home or in the garage, not on the road, that's the hope. Because it is very inhibiting (the access to fire and rescue)," he said.

A fire incident hit a luxury 2-story house on Pisangan Baru Tengah 1 Street, RT 12/02, Pisangan Baru Village, Matraman District, East Jakarta on Sunday, March 5. As a result of the fire, the owner of the house suffered a loss of Rp. 200 million.
