BANTUL - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bantul Regency formed and trained the Rapid Response Team (TRC) to increase preparedness in disaster management.
"There are 30 participants who take part in the formation and training of TRC. The hope is of course to increase disaster management preparedness in a planned, integrated and coordinated manner," said Bantul BPBD Chief Executive Agus Yuli Herwanta on the sidelines of the TRC Formation and Training in Bantul, Monday 6 February, confiscated by Antara.
The formation of a multi-sector TRC in collaboration with the TNI/Polri and cross-regional apparatus organizations (OPD) is stated in the Regulation of the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Number 9 of 2008, because TRC has a big role in disaster management.
"TRC has the main task of reviewing it quickly and precisely at natural disaster locations at a certain time in order to identify the coverage of disaster locations, the number of victims, damage to facilities and infrastructure to disturbances to public services," he said.
Therefore, he said, preparedness for disaster management must be accompanied by good and clear disaster mitigation control.
"TRC must have the ability to plan and map mitigation so that the coordination built is also directed. Moreover, Bantul areas have many potential disasters such as earthquakes, floods, coastal abrasion, landslides and fires," he said.
Based on data from BPBD Bantul, throughout 2022 there were 548 disasters recorded in the Bantul area. Disaster events in 2022 increased compared to 2021, which recorded 373 disaster events.
Meanwhile, Bantul Deputy Regent Joko Purnomo in his briefing said mitigation held the key to disaster management. If disaster mitigation mapping is not good, execution in the field will certainly fall apart.
According to him, in Bantul Regency, many disaster volunteers are engaged because of humanity. Therefore, the presence of TRC must also be able to build proper coordination.
"Metapan mitigasi bencana juga harus jelas, sehingga nanti langkah penanggulangan bencana tertata dan terstruktur dengan baik serta tepat sasaran. Jangan sampai kita bisakan ketika terjadi bencana," tandasnya.
