JAKARTA - The central government has allocated assistance for the development of soybean crop commodities covering an area of 50 hectares in various regions in West Sulawesi (Sulbar).
"The West Sulawesi government is grateful because this year farmers in West Sulawesi get assistance for the development of a 50 hectare soybean crop from the central government," said the Governor of West Sulawesi, Ali Baal Masdar in Mamuju, quoted by Antara, Saturday, December 9.
He said, soybean commodity development assistance for West Sulawesi to be managed this year, was the largest central government assistance among other regions in Indonesia which also received the same assistance.
According to him, this assistance should motivate soybean farmers in West Sulawesi by managing abandoned land to be reused as land for soybean development.
"That way, the farmers will make a big contribution to the regional economy by developing soybean fields," he said.
Head of the Agriculture Service Office of West Sulawesi, Syamsul Maarif, said that in Tinambung District, Polman Regency, a 300 hectare soybean crop was planned earlier this year.
He hopes that the national program can be realized as in the vision and mission of the West Sulawesi government in developing the agricultural sector.
