TNI Personnel Persecuting Civilians At Fruit Stores Are Not Members Of The Depok Kodim

DEPOK - Kodim 0508 / Depok spoke about a case of abuse by an army officer against a civilian at the Mughi Barokah Fruit Shop, Leuwinggung Village, Tapos District, on Tuesday, February 28.

Dandim 0508/Depok Colonel Inf Elvino Yudha Kurniawan explained that the perpetrator was an individual member of the TNI with the rank of Chief Sergeant (Serka), with the initials W. He was registered as a member of the Indonesian Army who served outside Depok City.

"Yes, that's right, the results of the investigation are unscrupulous members of the Indonesian Army. But it is not the personnel of the Depok Kodim or (members) of the unit serving in Depok," Elvino said in a statement received on Thursday, March 2.

Elvino explained that his party deeply regretted the incident carried out by the W person. The reason is that the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Dudung Abdurachman has issued seven daily orders. The order must be held and carried out by the ranks and soldiers of the Indonesian Army.

One of the seven Kasad daily orders, jeles Elvino, is that the Indonesian Army is required to be present in the midst of community difficulties no matter what form and always be a solution to this difficulty.

"(The persecution) clearly contradicts the order of Mr. Kasad. Of course, these perpetrators will be prosecuted according to applicable regulations. So, once again we emphasize, it is not a member of the Depok Kodim," said Elvino.

Previously, a video showing a man in a TNI uniform molesting a resident at a shop in the Leuwinggung Village area, Tapos District, Depok City, went viral on social media (medsos).

The video description explains that the persecution took place on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. The cause of the abuse is not yet known, but in a number of circulating videos it is stated that the okmum of the TNI member was angry because his car was hit.
