JAKARTA - DPR Speaker Puan Maharani asked residents of victims of the Cianjur earthquake not to sell or pawn government aid houses.

"Do not let the sale or pawn a house that will belong to the earthquake victims who have been included in the list because the house is already a land and house certificate in the name of the recipient, not someone else," he said in Cianjur when handing over 200 housing units directly to the prospective occupants, Wednesday, March 1.

Puan explained that in the first phase, the government had completed building 200 relocation houses with earthquake-resistant construction and today it is left to the prospective owners, while the other 300 units are still in the construction process and can be completed soon.

"The total number of relocation houses built is 500 units, for residents affected by the earthquake living in the earthquake red zone, we hope they can make the house a new residence for life," he said, confiscated by Antara.

In front of the two hundreds of prospective recipients of the relocation house, Puan emphasized not to hand over the house for any reason, because the ownership certificate cannot change its name.

Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman added that various programs including economic recovery will be obtained by relocation house owners who move from their hometowns in areas affected by the earthquake in Cugenang, Pacet and Cianjur sub-districts.

"The government will provide entrepreneurship training for relocation residents, including capital assistance when they have obtained their expertise, so that they still earn income and work even though they have moved," he said.

He said the land for former houses and agriculture in the village of origin remained on behalf of the relocated residents, and could be cultivated but could not build a building on it.

"The owner of the relocation house can be crossed out as a recipient, when building the building again on land in the village of origin. We hope that no one violates it, including selling or pawning the relocation house," he said.
