Entering School At 5 Morning Increase Work Etos, House Of Representatives Commission X To Viktor Laiskodat: Reasons Don't Make Sense

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission X of the DPR Hetifah Sjaifudian assessed that so far there is no evidence to explain that entering school at 5 am can trigger SMK or high school children to become diligent.

Hetifah said there is no common thread between school admission policies at 5 am by increasing student work ethic.

"There is no evidence that shows that the fun school increases its work ethic, the reason doesn't make sense," he told reporters, Wednesday, March 1.

Hetifah also asked the Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Viktor Laiskodat not to just make policies because they have a high risk of children's health.

He encouraged before Governor Viktor and the NTT Provincial Government made policies that had an impact on many people, especially children and families, considering not to shut themselves off from the advice of experts, teachers, guardians of students, and scientific studies.

"So you shouldn't be able to just change it drastically like that," he said.

Previously, the discourse on entering school at 5 am was conveyed by Governor Viktor Laiskodat when meeting with school principals and high school teachers in Kupang NTT on February 23, 2023.

During the meeting, Viktor requested that the special school activities for SMA and SMK in NTT start early at 05.00 WITA. This effort is believed by Vikto to be able to increase the work ethic of high school and vocational students in NTT and can create excellent students and schools.

The discourse then became a debate in the community, especially academics and education observers. There has been no discussion with the community and parents of students until the NTT DPRD, it turns out that a school in Kupang has already granted Viktor Laiskodat's request.

Recently, the NTT Education and Culture Office revealed that 10 high schools and vocational schools in Kupang had started teaching and learning activities at 05.30 central Indonesia time for the remaining 12th grade.
