Vice President Really Hopes Rafael Alun's Wealth Don't Make The Public Not Believe In The Directorate General Of Taxes

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin hopes that the case that dragged former officials of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) Rafael Alun Trisambodo will not make the public distrust the Ministry of Finance.

"I don't think it's right if then something like that then emerges distrust. Don't let people (don't want to) pay taxes, I don't think it's right," said Ma'ruf Amin on the sidelines of his activities in Surakarta, Central Java, Wednesday, March 1, as reported by Antara.

The incident that dragged the former head of the General Section of the South Jakarta Regional Office (Kanwil) was initiated by the violence committed by his son, Mario Dandy Satrio.

When committing a criminal act of violence against a child named Cristalino David Ozora, Mario Dandy drove a Rubicon car which was finally revealed that the luxury vehicle was in arrears of tax. This incident made the public busy calling for a reluctance to pay taxes on social media.

According to Ma'ruf Amin, the Ministry of Finance has taken steps ranging from examinations to internal improvements to institutions.

Rafael Alun has also been removed from his position as Head of the Regional Office of the South Jakarta Tax Directorate General. The removal, according to Ma'ruf Amin, was to give a warning to other officials.

"I think the anticipation is correct, it has been done," he added.

Ma'ruf Amin also assessed that the Ministry of Finance had been and continued to make improvements to the tax system by making very good use of digitalization. "The Ministry of Finance also disciplines the apparatus well," he said.
