JAKARTA - Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of DKI Jakarta Ibnu Chuldun asked the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono to allow the extension of the loan of land at the Class I Detention Center Pondok Bambu and the Class IIA Jakarta Women's Correctional Institution in Pondok Bambu, East Jakarta.

Because, said Ibnu, the status of borrowing and using the land used by the DKI Jakarta Kemenkumham Regional Office for detention centers and prisons in Pondok Bambu will end on August 24.

"In connection with this, please the Governor to be willing to provide recommendations for the loan extension process," said Ibnu when receiving a visit from the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono at the location, Monday, February 27.

Ibnu explained that the Pondok Bambu Women's Detention Center and Prison were originally built on land owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. This land loan in Pondok Bambu has been implemented since 1974.

The initial allocation of the land is the Pondok Bambu Special Prison with a land area of 14,945 square meters and a building area of 950 square meters. In 2017, along with the establishment of Jakarta women's prisons, this building and its land were divided into two.

"Based on the borrow-to-use agreement between the head of the regional office and the DKI Jakarta Provincial government, this agreement will expire on August 24 in 2023," said Ibnu.

After the activity, Heru responded to Ibnu's request. Heru admitted that he would recommend extending the loan using the Rutan and Pondok Bambu Women's Prison. In fact, if needed, the extension of the borrow-to-use will continue to be carried out regularly if the validity period ends again.

"There are regulations for borrowing, renting, and others. Same with government officials, we will continue and borrow and use it forever is okay," said Heru.

For information, Heru's visit to the Rutan and Pondok Bambu Women's Prison is a continuation of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in collaboration with the DKI Jakarta Kemenkumham Regional Office in order to fulfill the services and rights of correctional inmates or prisoners as residents of DKI Jakarta.

Heru said this collaboration is a form of concern for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in protecting people from various circles, especially those who become WBP.

"We together with the ranks visited the LPP and Pondok Bambu Detention Center to pay attention and ensure that the rights (residents there) are fulfilled by the state. Such as the right of population data, health, and guarantees of their welfare later (when released from detention)," Heru.

This collaboration is expected to provide an opportunity for WBP to improve skills and be able to earn additional income during the coaching period. In addition, in the future after the detention period is over, it is hoped that the inmates will have sufficient provisions to be able to work according to their abilities.
