Meeting with President Zelensky in Kyiv, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Prepares IDR 6.2 Trillion Aid for Ukraine

JAKARTA - Saudi Arabia will provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine worth USD$410 million or around IDR 6.262.750.000.000, Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said during a press conference in Kyiv after his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Sunday.

"We are focused on mitigating the impact of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. That is why the King and Crown Prince have made the decision to send humanitarian aid to the country in the amount of 410 million US dollars," he explained as quoted by TASS, February 27.

In addition, according to the El Sharq television channel, Riyadh and Kyiv signed a joint memorandum of understanding governing the supply of oil products to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andri Yermak wrote on his Telegram channel that 100 million US dollars will be used for humanitarian assistance, while another 300 million US dollars will be for the purchase of oil products.

The Saudi Foreign Minister added that Saudi Arabia is continuing efforts to find possibilities for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine crisis.

"The Kingdom is keen to support any initiatives that will help reduce tensions and achieve peace. He explained that we will continue to work closely with all parties involved in the conflict to find possibilities to resolve this crisis," he explained.

Meanwhile, citing the website of the Presidency of Ukraine, President Zelensky appreciated and was grateful for Saudi Arabia's assistance.

"We value this visit and consider it an important proof of support for Ukraine, especially on the anniversary of the start of full-scale aggression. As far as I know, this is our first visit in more than 30 years of independence. I hope it will provide a new impetus to intensify dialogue mutually beneficial," said President Zelesnky.
