TRENGGALEK - Investigators from the Trenggalek Resort Police confirmed that the teacher suspected of molesting five students at an elementary school in Trenggalek Regency, East Java, was charged with child protection with a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

"We are ensnared by the Child Protection Act because the victims are all children who become their own students," said Trenggalek Deputy Chief of Police Kompol Sunardi in a press release quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, February 26.

According to him, the use of the Child Protection Law in cases of sexual abuse is appropriate. In addition to all of the victims who are still minors, the punishment for the perpetrator with the initials ASB with a teacher's ASN background is maximized.

"The perpetrator or suspect was charged with Article 76 E in conjunction with Article 82 paragraph (2) UURI Number 17 of 2016 concerning the Determination of Perppu Number 1 of 2016 concerning the Second Amendment to UURI Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection into a law with a minimum imprisonment of five years and a maximum of 15 years and a maximum fine of IDR 5 billion.

Even though he admitted, ASB argued that indecent acts were the first time they had been carried out. Even then, ASB still argues that actions that can trigger trauma for the rest of the victim's life were carried out because at that time ( felt) cold. "Yes, the pretext is cold," he said.

In carrying out his actions, a new fact was revealed that ASB gave the lure of Rp. 5,000 as money to cover his mouth so that the victim would not tell the depraved act he had committed.

The action was entirely carried out by ASB in the school library for a certain period of time. Currently, the teacher has been detained by the police.

"The threat of imprisonment is a minimum of five years and a maximum of 15 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 5 billion, but if an educator or education staff is carried out, a third of the threat is increased," he said.

Previously, the Trenggalek resident's teacher was reported to the police on suspicion of molestation against five male students who are now between the ages of 11-12 years. Currently, the police are focusing on filing the case.
