Jambi Police Chief Has Not Been Evacuated, Tebing Tertad Until Extreme Weather Becomes Constraints

JAKARTA - Jambi Police Chief Inspector General Rusdi Hartono has found his whereabouts but cannot be evacuated. This is because the location point is a steep cliff and is constrained by extreme weather conditions.

"Because the location where the emergency helicopter landed was in the form of a steep cliff," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo to reporters, Monday, February 20.

The location of the steep cliff caused the rescue helicopter to not land. Thus, members who are members of the air evacuation team must shift first and then reach the point of existence of the Jambi Police Chief.

"Even he couldn't even go straight to vertical, but he was at a cliff point and then walked again to the location where the helicopter landed in an emergency," he said.

Meanwhile, the weather conditions are another obstacle because based on reports there is a big wind. Then, it has the potential to drop into thunderstorms.

"We need colleagues to know that the main obstacle for this evacuation process is the weather. Because the weather when it is winded is then foggy and there is even lightning," said Dedi.

Therefore, the evacuation process for today will end until 20.00 WIB. However, if possible, the rescue stage can be continued.

"If the weather improves again, the evacuation deadline that we get from the sar team in Merangin and in detail is 8 pm because the bmkg can tolerate this time because it maintains all safety," said Dedi.

Jambi Police Chief Inspector General Rusdi Hartono and his entourage experienced a terrible incident. The helicopter they were traveling in lost contact on Sunday, February 19.

A total of 8 people were victims. Apart from that, the Kapolda there are also several Jambi Regional Police officials and helicopter crews.
