JAKARTA - Residents of Kampung Bayam, former evictions for the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), demanded that the rental rate for the Kampung Susun Bayam housing per month be cheaper than offered by PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) as the manager.

The reason why residents have not been able to inhabit the Kampung Susun Bayam is because there has been no agreement regarding the rental rate with PT Jakpro. Initially, Jakpro offered a tariff of up to IDR 1.5 million per month on November 23. This figure is clearly opposed by the residents.

Jakpro again offered the rental price of Kampung Susun Bayam to Rp750 thousand per month on November 25. Jakpro claims this is in accordance with Governor Regulation Number 55 of 2018 concerning Adjustment of Housing Service Distribution Tariffs.

However, the arrangement of residential rental fees in Pergub 55/2018 is indeed different for each type, namely flats that are cheaper and more expensive in general. Residents still feel unable to pay the nominal.

"They (Jakpro) use tariffs in accordance with Pergub No. 55 and we impose them in public. Meanwhile, we are among the affected residents (the eviction program). We object. We are among the programmed residents," said a resident representative of Kampung Bayam, Sherly, who held a demonstration when met at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, February 20.

Sherly also compared their fate with the residents of the Kampung Susun Aquarium of around Rp. 34 thousand to Rp. 40 thousand per month. The residents of the Kampung Susun Aquarium are affected by the eviction of Kampung Akuarium who later returned to their homes after being laid out in the Anies Baswedan era during his tenure as Governor of DKI.

"For example, (Kampung) Aquarium is a victim of evictions. They are about the cost (hunia) it is also borne by cooperatives. (Kampung Susun) Aquarium is not free, pay every month Rp. 34 thousand (per month) for several years. After that, it belongs to the cooperative. Well, we want it like that," said Sherly.

However, Sherly admitted that the payment of Kampung Susun Bayam does not need to be exactly the same as the nominal Kampung Susun Aquarium. What is clear, the amount of the rental rate still meets the capabilities of the residents of Kampung Bayam.

"Residents want to pay what they can afford. If the range may be Rp. 150,000 per month, that should be the biggest. Because of income, sorry, what is called scavengers and factory rough workers are only Rp. 1.5 million," he said.

The construction of Kampung Susun Bayam has been 100 percent complete since the end of last September. In mid-October, Kampung Susun Bayam has also been inaugurated by Anies Baswedan. Since it was inaugurated in mid-October until now, the main problem that has caused residents of prospective residents who have not been able to occupy the Kampung Susun Bayam is the monthly rental rate.
