Chairman Of Bawaslu: Election 2024 Is ImPOSible To Postponed Unless There Is A War

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) Rahmat Bagja emphasized that it is impossible to postpone all parties holding the 2024 General Election. "It is impossible (the 2024 Election) is now postponed, unless we talk about war, there is a major storm throughout this republic. That is most likely. His name, forced power, was forced to stop," said Bagja in the OTW 2024 discussion entitled "A year before the election, the People's Eye Advanced to KPU and Bawaslu" which was held by the Coffee Shop Survey in Jakarta, Sunday, February 19. According to him, one of the reasons for holding the 2024 Election is impossible to postpone is because the stages of the democratic party have started running since June 14, 2022 ago. Currently, he continued, one of the stages of the 2024 General Election which is currently running is the selection of KPU members at the regional level, both provinces and districts/cities. "Everyone must know, now there is a selection (a member of the regional KPU). For example, there are 20 provincial KPU members who will be selected by the end of this year," he said.

On the same occasion, Bagja expressed his hope that there would be no rules regarding elections that would change in the midst of the current stages of the democratic party. "This has been eight months (a few stages of the election being held), you know. If suddenly the rules are changed, it creates uncertainty in the procedure. Legal uncertainty gives birth to many things. That needs to be maintained, not only the KPU and Bawaslu, but also stakeholders, the President, the DPR, and the Constitutional Court," he said.
