JAKARTA - The National Police's Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team has completed identifying the bodies of two Indonesian citizens (WNI) who were victims of the earthquake in Turkey.

The head of the 2023 Turkish Humanitarian Mission Task Force, Brigadier General Gatot Tri Suryanta, revealed that both were women from Bali. The identification process was carried out after the discovery of 2 bodies in the Dyarbakir area on Thursday, February 16.

"The team immediately helped carry out the identification process," said Gatot in his statement, Sunday, February 19.

Gatot explained that the two bodies were found under the rubble of the Galeria apartment building in Dyarbakir City after being buried for approximately 2 weeks, with conditions that were difficult to identify visually, so scientifically more accurate identification was needed.

The results of the examination stated that 2 victims named Irma Lestari (33) and Ni Wayan Supini (45). The identification process for the victim was named Irma based on medical and property records. Meanwhile, the victim Ni Wayan Supini was identified based on medical records, teeth and property.

"Furthermore, the two bodies will be returned to their homeland by the government through the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia which is planned to be accompanied by Atpol KBRI Ankara," explained Gatot.

With the discovery of these two bodies, the number of Indonesian citizens who died as a result of this earthquake reached 4 people. 2 of them have been found first.
