Landslides 100 Meters In Gunungkidul, Access To 5 Polukuhan Consisted

The 100-meter long DIY - Landslides caused the Tegalrejo-Mertelu road section in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), to be completely paralyzed.

Secretary of the Gunungkidul Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Subarno, said the evacuation had been carried out at the landslide point in Padukuhan Tegalrejo.

"The landslide site is estimated to have a height of about 100 meters and a width of 80 meters. The avalanche material buried the district road below it. The incident occurred at noon around 12.40 WIB. We evacuated landslide material so that the community could immediately pass it," said Subarno, Thursday, February 16, as reported by Antara.

He said the impact of the closure of the Tegalrejo-Mertelu road section had disrupted the main access in five padukuhan. The connecting road with Mertelu Village has also stalled.

"While the route was diverted, it turned past Padukuhan Trembono. It is about five kilometers further if it passes through the road access which is now broken," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Highways, Public Works for Public Housing and Settlement Areas (DPUPRKP) Gunungkidul Wadiyana admitted that he had monitored the landslide incident in Tegalrejo.

"I have contacted the village head. It was said that the landslide material was not only hoarding, but also damaging roads," said Wadiyana.

He said the route had the status of a district. The handling steps are coordinated with the relevant regional apparatus organizations (OPD). Residents are advised not to approach, because the land is still unstable.

"We together with the Gunungkidul BPBD are cleaning landslide materials so that people can immediately pass through," he said.
