JAKARTA - The robbery took place in the Cipinang Melayu Army Housing Complex (KPAD) area, Makasar District, East Jakarta, and was caught on CCTV cameras. The perpetrator is known to be riding a motorcycle wearing an online motorcycle taxi jacket (ojol) attribute and carrying a package of goods.

The perpetrator managed to seize the cellphone belonging to a junior high school student who was around the location when he walked home from school. After successfully confiscation, the perpetrator escaped.

Based on CCTV camera footage, the perpetrator was seen passing through the location on his motorbike. Meanwhile, three junior high school students were seen chasing the speed of the online motorcycle taxi driver.

However, the pursuit of the three female students failed. The perpetrator spurred his motorbike at high speed. Meanwhile, the victim continued to scream hysterically.

When he heard the victim's screams, another online motorcycle taxi driver who heard the victim's screams immediately went to the scene. However, the perpetrator was not caught because he had disappeared his tracks.

From the testimony of one of the eyewitnesses, Abdul, an ojol driver around the scene, the mugging incident occurred at around 01.00 WIB, after the school children came home.

"At the time of the incident, suddenly the child ran after a motorbike (while) screaming. We also don't know, suddenly it happened. From the CCTV image, the perpetrator wore a motorcycle uniform, behind it he brought a box. If ojol said (like) he wanted to deliver the goods," Abdul told reporters, Thursday, February 16.

This robbery incident happened very quickly. The victim also has not made a police report regarding the street crime. The victim looked shocked by the theft incident he experienced.

Along with many criminals dressed in online motorcycle taxi attributes, original ojol drivers also feel uncomfortable about the number of criminals who are looking for loopholes by joining the ojol uniform. Abdul hopes that online motorcycle taxi management will immediately control the attributes.

"This is why there must be control of attributes, each must have an id card, that is important," he said so that this robbery event could be reduced or eliminated.
