This Year's Newest Alutsista Row Belongs To The Indonesian Navy, One Of The Bung Karno Corvet Ships

JAKARTA - KSAL Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali revealed plans to add a number of main weapons systems (defense equipment). This includes the KRI Bung Karno corvette ship (369) which is estimated to be ready for use in mid-2023.

"Later there will be a Bung Karno corvette, which is specifically for VIPs, it is likely that by the middle of this year it will be ready," said Ali on the sidelines of the 2023 Indonesian Navy Leadership Meeting (Rapim) at the Indonesian Navy Headquarters, Cilangkap, Jakarta, Monday, February 13.

It is known that KRI Bung Karno (369) is currently under construction by PT Karimun Anugrah Sejati, Batam, since being ordered on June 21, 2022.

The KSAL also said that the two 60-meter fast patrol boats currently being produced by PT Caputra Mitra Sejati, Banten, are expected to be ready for use this year.

The Indonesian Navy is also ordering the procurement of two mine-seeking vessels from Germany, called KSAL Ali, which is different from the mine-carriers currently owned by the Indonesian Navy.

"The mine hunting ship is also from outside, it's a little different, quite modern this hunting boat, maybe the end of the year," said Ali.

The Indonesian Navy has submitted a submarine procurement to the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan), although Ali said that it is still in the planning stage.

"It is still being processed by the Ministry of Defense. We propose several options for submarines, later the Ministry of Defense will determine according to the budget compatibility for the Navy. Hopefully there will be, just pray, there will be a budget for foreign procurement to support submarines," he said.

Meanwhile, previously on January 19, 2023, Kasal had confirmed the placement of five new Indonesian Navy defense equipment units in the form of four aircraft and a helicopter unit at the Juanda Navy Aviation Center Command Headquarters (Puspenerbal), Surabaya, East Java.

The five defense equipment units are one unit of the CN 235-220 maritime patrol aircraft produced by PT Dirgantara Indonesia, two units of Archer PA-28-181 aircraft, and one Bell 505 Jet Ranger X helicopter.

On the same day, the Indonesian Navy also received a Hospital Assistance Ship (KBRS) dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat (992) produced by PT PAL Indonesia which is equivalent to a type C plus hospital.

KBRS dr. Radjiman Wdyodiningrat (992) was then alerted at the Fleet Command Unit (Koarmada) I Jakarta.
