MEDAN - Ghost pedicabs are again roaming the city of Medan. This time, the pedicab helped steal a motorbike on Sempurna Ujung Street, Medan Kota District.

The actions of the ghost pedicab perpetrators were recorded on a surveillance camera on Saturday, February 11, in the early morning. The footage went viral after being uploaded to social media.

In the video, it shows the perpetrators driving a motorized pedicab pretending to be the driver and passenger of the pedicab. When they arrived at the location that was their target, the perpetrators managed to take the motorbike from the victim's house.

The victim's family, Iwan Suherman, said that his son discovered the theft of this motorbike at around 5.30 WIB. The perpetrators allegedly amounted to 2 people and took away a motorcycle with police number BK 6349 WAH owned by Gunawan Pratama (26).

"After the morning prayers, Gunawan's wife, Sarah, opened the front door of the house. At that time, Sarah saw that her husband's motorbike was no longer on the terrace of the house," said Iwan, Monday, February 13.

Seeing that the motorbike was no longer in front of the house, said Iwan, they immediately checked their neighbors' CCTV cameras. From the CCTV footage seen, it turns out that the motorcycle has been stolen.

"Based on the CCTV footage, it is suspected that the perpetrators were two people and drove a motorized pedicab," said Iwan.

According to local residents, motorbike thefts have repeatedly occurred in the alley. Motorbikes are mostly stolen.

The victim immediately reported the incident to the Medan City Police Headquarters. The victim's report is registered with the number LP/B/103/II/2023/SPKT/Medan City Police/Medan Polrestabes/Polda North Sumatra.

"Saturday, February 11 afternoon, my son-in-law immediately made a report to the Medan City Police and the officers had already processed the crime scene," he explained.

"I hope the perpetrators can be arrested immediately. If necessary, all perpetrators will be dealt with firmly so as not to disturb the residents," pleaded Iwan.

Medan City Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Widi Lumbanraja confirmed that the victim had made a report and personnel had processed the crime scene (TKP).
