NasDem Talks About The Polemic Of Debt Anies Baswedan: Sandiaga Uno Should Explain Not To Be A Illegal Issue

Deputy Chairperson of the NasDem Party, Ahmad Ali, has spoken about the polemic of the debt of presidential candidate (readpres) Anies Baswedan worth IDR 50 billion in the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada.

As the party that carries Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate in 2024, Ali said, the former governor of DKI Jakarta has never discussed the debt of the Pilkada.

Ali then mentioned Anies' debt statement letter to Sandiaga Uno when he ran in the last DKI gubernatorial election. According to him, the letter is an answer to the issue of billions of rupiah in debt to finance campaign funds.

Ali also said that the debt securities showed that borrowing money was not for Anies' personal interests. He also asked Sandiaga, who at that time ran with Anies, to also explain so that the debt issue would not go wild.

"The 2017 elections have been won by Anies-Sandi. When the issue arose, Pak Sandi could explain so that it would not become a wild issue," said Ali, Saturday, February 11.

Ali also highlighted the points in the letter which stated that if the Anies-Sandi pair won, the former Minister of Education and Culture was automatically free from the debt.

Supposedly, said Ali, the circulation of the debt agreement should have been able to answer all allegations and public questions.

"So in my opinion, what else should be in question? The circulation of the letter should have answered all the accusations," said Ali.

It is known that a statement letter was circulated regarding Anies Baswedan's debt in the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada. In the letter, Anies borrowed money for campaign purposes of Rp92 billion from Sandiaga Uno and other parties. In point number six in the letter, Anies is required to return or help return if Sandiaga Uno is not elected governor or deputy governor of DKI in the 2017 Pilkada.

Meanwhile, on point seven, it was written that if Anies and Sandiaga become governors and deputy governors of DKI Jakarta, Sandiaga promised to abolish and free Anies from the debt.

Meanwhile, Sandiaga Uno was reluctant to discuss Anies' debt again in the 2017 Pilkada. According to him, it is time to look to the future.

"After I pray istikharah, I don't want to continue talking about this. It's better for the parties who know to convey, from me enough, I want to focus on looking to the future," said Sandiaga.
