Chat With The Owner Of A Car Paint Workshop, Jokowi Presses The Importance Of Business Financial Reports

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo emphasized the importance of recording financial reports containing income and expenses in every business activity carried out.

This was conveyed by Jokowi during a conversation with businesses receiving financing from Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), during the 2023 KUR Handover and the launch of a Digital Farmer Card for Subsidized Pupuk in North Aceh, Friday, February 10.

As witnessed online, Antara reported on this occasion that Jokowi invited a number of recipients of the financing to go on stage to talk.

Jokowi then asked one of the recipients of the financing, namely the owner of a car paint workshop named M Nasir, about the amount of financing he got from BSI.

"How much is the financing from BSI?" Jokowi asked.

"IDR 400 million, sir," replied Nasir.

"Rp 400 million? If Mr. Nasir has a lot of cars because it's a car repair shop. There must be a lot (of cars)," joked Jokowi.

"People's car but sir," said Nasir laughing.

"Yes, you know, you know, you know," said Jokowi.

The President then asked how many times Nasir had proposed financing at the bank, and Nasir answered three times.

Have you taken it three times, meaning you are used to it. Mr. Nasir has recorded it? The company's management has recorded it? How much is used to buy paint, buy Cempul, other amps?" asked the President again.

Nasir also said that he always records every day. According to President Jokowi, recording is very important and exemplary for every entrepreneur at every level.

"This is a good thing, which we should example. Everything is recorded, you know. Be careful, this (financing) is not all your money, (but) money together with BSI. So if it is noted that it is good, it can learn what the mistakes were last year, where is the inefficiency. So everything is caught," said Jokowi.

The President said that recording also needs to be done for consumers who come, so that business actors can find out which areas the consumers come from.

"Who is the customer listing, oh many consumers are from Bireun, oh many consumers are from Bener Meriah, oh many consumers are from Gayo Lues, oh many consumers are from Lhoksumawe, everything seems. That's the importance of the management there. I remind you," said the President.

The President then received information from Nasir that the financing he received was tiered. At the beginning of applying for financing, Nasir only received Rp200 million, then increased to Rp300 million in the next submission and so on, until now he has received Rp400 million.

Jokowi said such tiered financing was very good. According to him, business actors who are applying for loans for the first time should not rush to apply for large amounts of financing. This is a good one. Don't know that to the first BSI immediately get Rp500 million, that's dangerous. The good thing is to move up the class, from elementary, junior high, high school, university, now the S1, S2, doctoral degrees, new. So the roots are strong," said Jokowi.

Jokowi said that he had also experienced applying for financing when he was still starting a business. The president once borrowed from a bank with a loan of Rp. 10 million, then increased to Rp. 30 million and so on.
