JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said some EU leaders expressed their readiness to provide aircraft for his country against Russia, on the sidelines of a block meeting in Brussels, Belgium on Thursday.

President Zelensky spoke after joining the European Union meeting for the first time, with one of his goals of obtaining more weapons from allies.

"Europe will be with us until our victory. I have heard from a number of European leaders... about the readiness to give us the necessary weapons and support, including aircraft," President Zelensky told a news conference.

"I have some bilateral agendas now, we will raise the problem of fighter jets and other aircraft," he said.

As previously reported, President Zelensky is in Europe holding a number of meetings, in addition to attending European Union meetings.

Yesterday, he visited England to meet King Charles III, PM Rishi Sunak and a speech in parliament. That evening, he met German President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Paris, having dinner.

The common thread of the series of meetings was, seeking aircraft assistance from Western allies for Kyiv in the face of the Moscow invasion.

In response to this safari, Russia, through its embassy in London, warned Britain of possible shipments of fighter jets to Ukraine, saying the move would have military-political consequences for the whole world.
