JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) welcomes any party who wants to report alleged misuse of the budget at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). This report must be accompanied by preliminary data so that it can be followed up. This was conveyed by the Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, in response to the statement made by Commission VII member from the NasDem Faction, Rudi Hartono. In a meeting with the Head of BRIN, Laksana Tri Handoko, he threatened to report BRIN to the KPK for allegedly misappropriating the budget. "The role and society of anyone is important for the KPK and we are all in efforts to eradicate corruption," Ali told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, Thursday, February 9. "So please immediately report to the KPK, of course, accompanied by the identity and initial data of the reporter," he continued. This initial data is important so that the KPK can move to conduct studies and verification. Ali said, if the report is declared that the KPK can work on it, the team will move. However, if there are no criminal acts, the reporting can be used to open corruption prevention in the reported institutions. One of them, by monitoring so that loopholes in practice can be closed. "Efforts to prevent, monitor, the study can be from public reports and then the focus of the KPK to review policies," said Ali. In a meeting of Commission VII DPR RI on January 31, Rudi suspected that there was misuse of the BRIN program budget. He directly questioned this to Laksana. In addition, the meeting also led to pressure for the government to remove Laksana Tri Handoko as Head of BRIN because he was deemed unable to solve the problem. Next, there is a recommendation for the Supreme Audit Agency to audit the use of the BRIN budget in 2022.
