JAKARTA - In addition to launching an immersive display with the application of Augmented Reality (AR) technology on Google Maps, the search giant also introduced a new feature for electric vehicle (EV) drivers.

"We are seeing more drivers and automotive companies turning to electric vehicles. Therefore, we are introducing a new Maps feature for EV drivers with vehicles equipped with Google," said Chris Phillips, VP & General Manager, Geo Google at the Google present: Live from Paris, Wednesday, February 8.

Google Maps is now adding an EV charging stop feature. Maps will now suggest the best stop to charge your vehicle based on several factors such as current traffic, your charging rate, and estimated energy consumption.

Interestingly, if you don't want to visit the recommendation station from Google, you can exchange it with other stations easily. So now, EV drivers don't have to worry too much anymore where they will charge for their vehicles.

The next feature is, an ultrafast charging filter that will help you find a charging station that has a charger of 150 kilowatts or higher. For many cars, this gives you enough power to fill in and get back on the road in less than 40 minutes.

Finally, Google Maps will also show you the search results, if somewhere like a supermarket or coffee shop has a charging station.

"So if you're on your way to buy groceries, you can more easily choose a store that also allows you to charge your car there," he added.
