Unclear Fate Of KPK Investigator Kompol Rosa

JAKARTA - The status of Kompol Rosa Purbo Subekti is not clear. He is a Police investigator who was entrusted to the KPK by the Police. However, some time ago he was reportedly returned to the Police by the KPK on January 22.

But there has been no official letter from the KPK. Because of this, the National Police insisted that Rosa was still on duty at the KPK until September. Moreover, the National Police once sent a letter to the KPK regarding the cancellation of Polri's withdrawal some time ago.

"There is no (letter of return from the KPK). But the point is that Kompol Rosa will be assigned to the KPK until September 2020," said Argo.

This statement is not the same as that of KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri. Firli said Kompol Rosa had been returned to the Police because of the Police's request, not because of a problem.

"Look, it was returned because there was a request and we have finished communicating that everything is smooth," said Firli.

Kompol Rosa is one of three investigators returned by the KPK to the Police. Their return took place during the KPK investigation into the alleged bribery case for the replacement of DPR RI members through the interim replacement mechanism (PAW) with the suspect Harun Masiku and three other people. Now, Harun is a fugitive and his whereabouts are unknown.

A number of elements of society considered it odd to return Rosa to the Police, especially when the KPK was handling a case of alleged bribery related to the interim replacement of Harun's members with former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan.

The head of the KPK Employee Center, Yudi Purnomo, assessed that Rosa's return was carried out unilaterally. "Mas Rosa never received notification of exactly when he was dismissed from the KPK and what was the clear reason because there had never been any breach of discipline or ethical sanctions committed by him," said Yudi in his statement.

Meanwhile, ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana assessed that there were two things that indicated that Rosa was transferred from the KPK without any basis. First, Rossa was counted with an achievement because she succeeded in uncovering a bribery scandal involving former PDI-P candidate Harun Masiku and former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan. Second, Rosa's tenure is not over. So the question arises, the motive behind this all.
